The Suite
355 sq. ft. with a king bed, a lounge area and a side sea view. The most space for two.
The balcony, the sea and the sunset over the Bay of Bengal. Which room to book for a couple, what the hotel actually offers, and the things it does not.
What makes it work
Puri is not a honeymoon destination in the way Goa or Kerala is, and pretending otherwise would not help anyone. What it is, though, is a working beach town with an extraordinary temple, a long coastline and genuinely good light at the end of the day. That suits a couple who want a few nights by the sea rather than a themed resort.
Three categories have a private balcony. On a front sea-facing room that balcony looks straight out over the sand at the water, and it is where most guests spend the evening. If a balcony matters to you, book a Platinum Double or Platinum Twin Bed — do not accept a side sea view and hope for the best.
The Sundowner Cafe is on the terrace level and faces the sea. It does snacks and casual refreshments rather than full service, but it is the natural place to be as the light goes. Dinner proper is in the multi-cuisine restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The northern stretch is calmer than the sand opposite the town. It is still a beach, and the surf here is powerful — but the evenings are quieter, which is usually what matters most on a couple's trip.
What this hotel is not. There is no swimming pool and no spa. There is a gym, a kids' play area, a restaurant, a cafe and 24-hour room service. If a pool is central to what you want, book somewhere that has one — and this is not that place.
Room or occasion
355 sq. ft. with a king bed, a lounge area and a side sea view. The most space for two.
Platinum Double or Twin Bed, both with a private balcony looking over the water.
1,300 sq. ft. for up to 90 guests — anniversaries, birthdays and small celebrations.
Terrace-level, sea-facing, and the best place in the property at sunset.
Small things that help
The northern beach is quietest on weekdays, and weekdays are when a beachfront room is worth most.
Name the front sea-facing category when you enquire. Side views are a different room.
Late afternoon gives you the light over the water before dinner rather than after.
An anniversary or a proposal changes what the hotel can arrange. Mention it on the call.
Keep comparing
For space, the Suite at 355 sq. ft. with a king bed, a lounge area and a side sea view. For the view, a front sea-facing Platinum Double or Platinum Twin Bed with a private balcony — the balcony is where the sunset happens.
It is quiet and coastal rather than formal. The beach is a few steps away, the terrace cafe faces the sea and the sunsets happen over the water. What the hotel does not have is a swimming pool or a spa — we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
The 1,300 sq. ft. banquet hall seats up to 90 guests and can be set up for anniversaries, birthdays and small celebrations. For something private and small, talk to the hotel directly on +91 33 4002 1200.
Couples stay here often. What suits a honeymoon is the balcony, the beach and the fact that the hotel is far enough from the temple town to feel away from it. Book a front sea-facing room with a balcony and try to arrive on a weekday.
The in-house multi-cuisine restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the Sundowner Cafe on the sea-facing terrace does snacks and beverages at golden hour. Room service runs 24 hours.
