Sunrise on the balcony
Tea, a chair and the first light on the water. Puri faces east, so the sun rises out of the sea — front sea-facing rooms see it without leaving bed.
Hotel Sonar Bangla, Puri
A beachfront address on New Marine Drive Road — front sea-facing rooms, a sunset terrace cafe and warm Odia hospitality, a few steps from the sand.
Coastal charm meets cultural comfort
Wake to panoramic sea vistas and private balconies. As evening comes, unwind at Sundowner, our terrace cafe, while the ocean paints the sky — then return to rooms crafted for calm on the scenic Marine Drive.
Marine Drive, Baliapanda
Puri's beach is one of the longest on India's east coast, and our stretch at Baliapanda is the quiet end of it — wide, walkable at dawn, and close enough to hear the surf from the terrace.
Puri in motion
Three short films, stored on this site and credited to their makers: the chariot procession that stops the whole town each monsoon, the deities carried out to their chariots, and the sun going down at Konark. Each clip loads only when it reaches your screen.

Signature experiences
Everything here is arranged through the front desk or the travel desk — no need to plan it before you arrive.
Tea, a chair and the first light on the water. Puri faces east, so the sun rises out of the sea — front sea-facing rooms see it without leaving bed.
The terrace catches the last hour of light. Snacks, beverages and a long view north along the coast.
About 3 km away. The desk arranges transport and advises on the quieter darshan windows through the day.
Roughly an hour south along Marine Drive — Sun Temple, Chandrabhaga beach and the casuarina woods at Balukhand.
Pattachitra painters at Raghurajpur and the appliqué workshops of Pipili, both easy half-day drives.
Keep the routine going indoors, or let the children burn off the morning before the beach.
Sun, sand & serenity
A 1,300 sq. ft. banquet hall for up to 90 guests, coastal surroundings, and a MICE desk that handles the logistics — corporate conferences, anniversaries and celebrations that run seamlessly.
Facilities tailored for you
Travel desk — car hire, temple transport, Konark and Chilika day trips and craft-village drives can all be arranged after you arrive. Bring the question; we will work out the rest.
Beyond the hotel
Puri rewards people who leave the sand for an afternoon. Each of these is a comfortable drive from the hotel.
One of the four holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites — a living temple whose rituals shape the town.
A 13th-century chariot in stone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the coast road.
Asia's largest brackish lagoon — dolphins, migratory birds and a horizon of water.
Every house a studio: Pattachitra scrolls, palm-leaf etching and Gotipua dance.

The Journal
Longer reads on the crafts, light and seasons of Puri — the kind of detail a good front desk tells you over the counter.

Puri faces east, so sunsets are a river-and-lagoon affair. Four spots worth the drive, with timings.

Getting here
New Marine Drive Road runs along the coast between the town and the lighthouse. Baliapanda, where we sit, is the residential end of the beach — quieter, but still a short drive from the temple and the railway station.

The building itself
Until now these two views only existed on our OTA listings. The aerial shows how close the property sits to the sand; the night frame shows the lit balconies you will be looking out from.
