Why families do well here

Puri is an unusually good town for families: the beach is the main attraction and it's free, the temple visit is short enough for short attention spans, and distances are small. The pieces that need deciding are the room and the rhythm — everything else follows.

The room decision

Two categories exist specifically for families. The Platinum 4 Bed sleeps up to five across two double beds plus a separate living room — the living room is what parents end up thanking. The Premium 4 Bed offers the same 355 sq. ft. footprint for four adults and a child. For two adults with one small child, a Platinum Double comfortably covers it.

A day that works

  • Early beach hour — sandcastles before the sun turns serious.
  • Big breakfast — the restaurant opens onto the day properly.
  • Midday indoors — the kids' play area and room service cover the hot hours.
  • Afternoon outing — one sight per day: temple, drive, craft village. Not two.
  • Evening terrace — the Sundowner Cafe, while someone falls asleep on someone's shoulder.

Beach safety, quickly

  • Swim only where lifeguard flags permit; hold the youngest in the shallows.
  • Beach mornings beat beach afternoons in every season — see the season guide.
  • Sun protection, hats and water bottles — the sea breeze hides how strong the sun is.

Getting it right

Five things that make a family trip easier

Book the room for the people, not the price

A four-bed with a separate living room is the difference between a relaxed trip and a cramped one. See the Platinum 4 Bed.

Move the day around the sun

Beach in the early morning and late afternoon; temple, market or the hotel's indoor spaces during the hot middle.

Rule the water absolutely

An adult in the water with the children, not watching from the sand. Currents on this coast are strong and the drop-off can be sudden.

Arrange one car for the day

The travel desk can set up a driver for temple, Konark or craft villages. Cheaper and vastly less stressful than multiple taxis.

Keep one slow day

The most common family mistake in Puri is over-scheduling. One unscheduled day makes the other days better.
